Over the past week, our company has come together to discuss the recent events. Black lives matter, and we must be a part of the needed change. SeekOut stands in solidarity with the Black community. Words matter, but actions matter more. We realize that together, we have the power to use our voice, our resources, and actions to address this injustice in our world.
As a start, we have identified four areas where we will take action.
We need to educate ourselves.
We are providing funds to all employees to purchase books on the topic of combating racism and injustice, to learn and to share what they learn.
We need to start with ourselves.
We must make sure that we are rid of our unconscious biases. We will organize D&I training for our whole team. We will hold each other accountable every day, so we continuously improve.
We need to follow with action.
We know that our criminal justice system is not fair, and Black people are the overwhelming target. As our first-action: we are donating to WA-Bloc, a Seattle-based organization focused on educational programs to dismantle racism.
We need to give back.
Our employees feel strongly about the importance of giving back to our community. We encourage and support our employees to take paid time off to volunteer with organizations combating racism.
There may be more we can do. We will listen to our customers and community to learn about additional steps we can take both now and, in the future.
Silence is not an option. Inaction is not an option. Together, we will create a world of justice and equal opportunity.
